The Chipolopolo SquadThe Chipolopolo Squad

The Zambia national soccer team, fondly called Chipolopolo, is one of Africa’s top teams.

On the road to the 2010 FIFA World Cup and Nations Cup finals Angola 2010, the Chipolopolo are under the tutelage of Frenchman Herve Renard. German Bundesliga side Arminina Bielefield midfielder Christopher Katongo has inherited legend Kalusha Bwalya’s number 11 shirt and is skipper.

Other members of the Chipolopolo include all-time PSL leading scorer Collins Mbesuma of Mamelodi Sundowns, 2007 Zambian Footballer of the year Rainford Kalaba, 2008 African Junior Player of the Year Clifford Mulenga and senior members who include French ligue 2 side Chatearoux FC captain Jacob Mulenga, Isaac Chansa of Swedish side Helsingborg, Felix Katongo of Ligue 1 side Racing Rennes.
